About Symphony Australia

Symphony Services Australia Ltd commenced operations on 1 September 2006.  It is a public Company limited by Guarantee and has six member companies.  Its principal aim is to provide high quality, cost effective and efficient shared services to its customers.

The main customers are the six state based orchestras namely:

        >  Adelaide Symphony Orchestra

        >  Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

        >  Queensland Symphony Orchestra

        >  Sydney Symphony

        >  Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

        >  West Australian Symphony Orchestra

all of which are independent public entities.

The predecessor to Symphony Services Australia was Symphony Australia Holdings Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the ABC. Prior to 1997, Symphony Services Australia and the six orchestral companies were all part of the Concerts Division of the ABC, but successive reviews, culminating in the Orchestras Review 2005, led to the devolvement from the ABC and the establishment of the individual entities that exist today.

Symphony Services continues to use the internationally recognised trading name of ‘Symphony Australia'.
