Composer Development
Symphony Australia views the creation and performance of Australian musical works as a priority.
Several new works are commissioned each year for major Australia symphony orchestras. Composer Attachments are available from time to time with different orchestras.
And new talent is encouraged through the Composer Development program, for which any aspiring composer may apply. The program allows talented composers to work with a professional orchestra, and culminates in a public concert featuring brand new, fully-orchestrated works by each participant.
The 2009/2010 program commenced on 30 November 2009 and will culminate in a concert at 7pm on July 7 2010 at the Iwaki Auditorium with Orchetsra Victoria conducted by Richard Mills performing works by Mark Viggiani, Nicole Murphy, Andrew Howes, Douglas Gibson and Calvin Bowman.
This is a free event and no booking is required so please come along and support these young artists!
