Scholar Conductors

The Scholar Conductors programs is for enthusiastic high school students who would like to try their hand at conducting in a supportive yet professional situation.

No audition is necessary; no conducting experience required, although the ability to read a score is a prerequisite.

Past participants of the Scholar Conductors course have auditioned successfully for the Core Program, and others have continued their interest in conducting through school and community groups. Course Director Christopher Seaman runs this mastercourse.

Applicants from all states are encouraged, and Symphony Australia endeavours to assist with homestay arrangements if required, although homestay availability cannot be guaranteed and parents must be prepared to provide alternative accommodation and supervision if necessary.

Entry into the course is competitive and the number of participants is limited.

Applications for participation in the 2008 Conductor Development program have now closed.
