National Music Library

As the central music library serving the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the six orchestras comprising the Symphony Australia orchestral network, the National Music Library holds one of the oldest and most extensive collections of print music in the southern hemisphere.

Reflecting its long association with the ABC, the Symphony Australia National Music Library has previously been known as the ABC Print Music Library, the ABC Federal Music Library and the Symphony Australia National Music Library.

While orchestral repertoire remains the principal focus of the National Music Library, the collection has evolved to include significant holdings in the following areas:

        >    Orchestral sets and scores

        >    Opera, vocal and choral material

        >    Chamber music

        >    Piano music

        >    Original manuscripts

Organisations beyond the Symphony Australia orchestral network can access a large number of non-copyright materials from the collection via the National Music Library Music Hire Service.
